The environmental seal is an Ecolabel promoted by the Ministry of the Environment to encourage environmentally friendly practices by manufacturers, as well as to encourage greater market demand for those products with less environmental impact.

With this initiative, the Ministry seeks to encourage the growth of the national market for Eco-labelled products.

Currently 125 companies have the Colombian environmental seal, in the country there are 24 product categories for which they can apply for the environmental seal, among them are products and services such as: Tiles and ceramics, cleaning detergents, prefabricated concrete, computers, brick and clay blocks, paint, accommodation and lodging, lubricants, handicrafts, paper and cardboard, among others.

The last of the categories included is the Environmental Mining Seal for the extraction of precious metals (gold, silver and platinum), which was regulated by resolution 2210 of 2018.

The organizations authorized to grant the environmental seal include: Icontec, SGS, BVQI, COTECNA and ACERT, each of these organizations is authorized to grant a specific group of seals, not all of them are authorized to grant all the seals.
