Environmentally friendly products: a healthy lifestyle is a priority

The International Academy of Ecology (Academy) is an innovative scientific organisation of environmental scientists and nature users designed to develop science, education and culture in Kazakhstan. The activities of the Academy are aimed at conducting fundamental and applied research, using their results in practice, training scientific personnel and highly qualified specialists, coordinating and organising activities in the field of ecology and nature management.

The demand for environmentally friendly products has been growing in the Republic of Kazakhstan for about 20 years. The vast market and the growing demand for environmentally friendly food products present significant opportunities for Kazakhstan. Producers are adopting and supporting this trend. Kazakhstan has an excellent capability to develop the local market and export.

The Academy is the only not-for-profit organisation in Kazakhstan to support the development of environmentally friendly products, services and processes. The Academy runs ECO, a type 1 ecolabel according to ISO 14024:2018 Environmental Labels and Declarations, and is also a full member of the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN) since 2016.

The Academy follows UN position guidelines regarding sustainable production and consumption. We work to increase the number of companies certifying products with our environmental standards and increase the number of products produced sustainably, minimising the impact on human health and the environment.

Our team consists of a highly qualified group of ecologists, experts with specialised environmental education, and specialists in standardisation and certification, specialising in various fields of medicine, pedagogic, and scientific environmental safety.

Our type 1 ecolabel ECO program provides comprehensive information on hazardous substances, environmental impacts and life-cycle assessment. ECO is a robust ecolabel that demonstrates our conviction that ambitious environmental principles are included in all our services. It also reflects the most frequent request from customers and business partners in many regions and different market segments.

The Academy cooperates with several reputable organisations in Kazakhstan, implements joint global projects, participates in environmental programs and events, engages in environmental education, and promotes sustainable production and consumption. We also provide ecolabeling training in several countries.
