As of the end of 2007, the GEN included
twenty-six national and multinational member
organizations that operate ecolabelling programs/schemes
around the world. To access a recent list
of member organizations and their representatives,

While membership is intended for ecolabelling organizations that share the GEN's objectives and meet basic criteria, much of the information collected in the GEN's programs and many of the GEN’s meetings and events are open to a broader audience.
Based upon a decision taken at the 2000 GEN
Annual General Meeting (AGM), formal participation
in GEN initiatives and activities has been
expanded to include “associates”. These associates
are organizations that formally and actively
support ecolabelling principles and goals,
as well as GEN efforts to advance ecolabelling
internationally. For a recent list of GEN
associates and their representatives, click
